Kindergarten Readiness

Accelerated and literacy-rich activities for preschool aged children (ages 1-4). Kindergarten Readiness introduces our young friends to the concepts and foundational skills that they will need to know to take any entry exam into Kindergarten. Additionally, children will learn how to communicate and understand the world around them.

With the latest news eliminating the G&T test in NYC, we continue to alter and differentiate our G&T Readiness curriculum to meet all concepts for any entry-level exams.

Orton-Gillingham/Reading

Learning to read is hard! We at BG believe that in order for children to become successful readers, they have to be phonetically aware of sounds. In order for children to be aware of sounds, we use a mix of the Orton Gillingham (OG) approach and the 'Science of Reading'.

With a structured and explicit reading approach, our students benefit first from becoming phonetically proficient. After they are proficient, we focus on the 5 components of reading:

- Phonological Awareness

- Phonics

- Comprehension

- Fluency

- Vocabulary

This creates a perfect recipe for learning to read!

Math/Number Sense

Learning math is not the same as it was many years ago. Now, children need multiple strategies to become confident mathematicians. With the support of manipulatives and explicit instruction, children are able to problem solve and think critically.

Additionally, we begin with learning number sense and mastering subitizing. These two concepts are critical in becoming a fluent mathematician. Learning to count has never been so much fun!
